I used to be the carefree girl that went to bed with a full face of make-up, waking up with two smeared black eyes and what looked like a crazed Cruella Deville face on my pillow. Not a single worry about hormonal breakouts, dark circles, deep frown lines, or staining my sheets. Then I entered adulthood…motherhood. The joys of sleepless nights, first time mom anxieties, and all the good stuff that comes with postpartum. Ya know, the stuff that makes you look and feel 10 years older in a matter of 10 months. Today, I wouldn’t dream of going to bed without washing my face or ruining my clean white sheets - the dynamics change when you’re the one buying and washing them.

My skin has become a priority - a priority that I don’t skimp on. I’ve actually been using the same skincare line (that I loved) for about four years now, and then baby number two happened. My skin was just different and I wasn’t loving the results of my trusty old moisturizer, so I’ve been testing out a few brands hoping to find something that worked for me. I had come across Beautycounter a few times in my endeavors, but there was so much to choose from that I didn’t know where to start, so I kind of just didn’t get into it. Then a mom friend reached out to me asking if I wanted to try some of the Beautycounter products she had on hand… you can guess it took me all of two seconds to say heck ya! A week later I had a box packed full of Beautycounter products to test out sitting at my door..

I’m just a tired mom, with dark circles and a few frown lines, sharing what worked for me - hoping that it will help you ;)

My skin type: combination… I think? Kind of dry, but not always… not really acne prone, but I have the typical hormonal breakout. So basically my skin type is hot mess like everything else around me.

My skincare preference: quick, simple, gentle, and effective

Trying out the products:

N O T E: My first week I tried everything Sam sent me and followed her tips/routines to a T…

w a r n i n g: IT WAS a lot. a lot of products and a lot of info. it’s also a lot more than I would normally USE, BUT I needed to find what worked for me, which meant trying a lot ;)

Mon: (nighttime)

  1. Countermatch PURE Calm Cleansing Milk - love how gentle and light the cleanser was, but I didn't love that it didn’t remove all of my makeup.

  2. Rejuvenating Toner Pads - honestly, as far as toners go they worked great. I've never really used another kind (that’s bad I know) to be able to compare, but my face felt clean and fresh after using them, and they removed the leftover makeup residue!

  3. Countermatch Adaptive Moisturize Lotion and Countermatch Eye Rescue Cream - absolutely love both! They are both super light, creamy, and go on effortlessly. You don’t need a lot either, so I imagine they last you.

Tues: repeat mon NIGHT

  • I also tried out the balancing charcoal mask after my shower that day. Which is a product I will now have on hand at all times. Although the removal is EXTREMELY messy and hudson was scared to death, my skin was brighter and my pores were smaller after the first use - totally worth it!

Wed: (nighttime)

  1. Cleansing Balm - let me just put it this way... if I was ever put on a desert island, and could only have 5 things, they would be: dry shampoo, my hydro flask, my glasses, an extra large bag of ranch veggie straws, and the Beautycounter Cleansing Balm. It. Is. THAT. GOOD.

  2. Overnight Resurfacing Peel - another product I ended up loving. My face was seriously glowing the next morning.

  3. Countermatch Recovery Sleeping Cream - this product was so-so for me. I don't love the dispenser/container, and it wasn't as light as the adaptive moisture lotion, but very hydrating!

  4. when I woke the next morning I used the Nourishing Cream Exfoliator which left my face feeling so soft that I couldn’t stop touching it!

Thur: REPEAT mon again ;)

FRI: (morning & nighttime)

  1. I started my day with washing my face with the CHARCOAL cleansing bar. This bar is probably the most popular product i’ve seen from beautycounter, and now i know why. It left my face feeling squeaky clean and i noticed my pores looked smaller after just a few uses. plus, It’s not a bad price…

  2. ended my day with the same routine as mon night

PS. I rarely do a morning and nighttime routine. in the mornings I just never have time to do anything besides brush my teeth and spray some dry shampoo in my hair before I have a toddler screaming for pancakes and a baby screaming for the boob. #momlife

Sat: Repeat mon

Sun: repeat wed

Now, if you’re like me and prefer a simple and quick routine - all of the above is probably not your cup of tea. Which is why my second week nighttime regimen looked a lot different. I picked the products I really loved and did my own thing ;)

M: cleansing balm, resurfacing peel, adaptive moisture lotion, Eye cream

T&W: cleansing balm, toner, adaptive moisture lotion

Th: cleansing balm, resurfacing peel, adaptive moisture lotion, eye cream

F&S: cleansing balm, toner, adaptive moisture lotion

Sun: Charcoal cleansing bar, adaptive moisture lotion

—> I also made time to use the Nourishing Exfoliator on tues and fri morning, because that stuff is freaking magic ;) and did the charcoal mask once a week after a shower.

Obviously, my regimen in much more simple, and consists of fewer products, but they’re the products I saw great results with and that worked well together! To try my regimen you need:

If investing in a lot of products isn’t something you want to do right now, and you’re just looking to kind of dip your toes into the world of Beautycounter - the one product I would recommend, hands down, is the Beautycounter Cleansing Balm!

You can shop all of the Beautycounter products and their different skincare lines
